In a groundbreaking move, the X social media platform will undergo significant enhancements powered by artificial intelligence (AI). An X team insider revealed that the platform’s new AI-powered system will significantly improve the user experience by eliminating spam and scam comments.
X AI Enhancement
The news of the purported development was shared by “DogeDesigner” (@cb_doge), a well-known member of the X community. The upcoming AI-based algorithm, X Algo, will prioritize posts and replies using AI while enabling comprehensive semantic search capabilities, resulting in a more efficient and user-friendly experience.
In addition, the AI will play a critical role in detecting and removing spam and scam comments, significantly improving the platform’s interaction quality. X has been gradually incorporating AI into its operations. One notable addition is the Grok AI chatbot, developed by Elon Musk’s xAI startup and recently made available to Premium+ users.
This chatbot represents a step forward regarding intelligent, responsive user interactions. Last week, Musk revealed that all of the platform’s core systems had successfully transitioned from twitter.com to x.com.
This change has sparked excitement in various cryptocurrency communities, particularly those associated with XRP and DOGE. These networks’ teams have reportedly inquired about Musk’s plans to incorporate cryptocurrency payments into the X platform. While X Payments is expected to launch by the end of the year, Musk has repeatedly stated that there are no plans to implement a native cryptocurrency on the platform.
UK Expands AI Safety Institute’s Presence
Meanwhile, the AI Safety Institute (AISI) in the United Kingdom is set to expand its global reach by opening a new office in the United States. UK Technology Secretary Michelle Donelan announced that the institute would open its first overseas branch in San Francisco this summer.
The decision to open an office in San Francisco will enable the firm to leverage the Bay Area’s abundant tech talent and collaborate closely with one of the world’s largest AI hubs, which spans London and San Francisco. This move will also strengthen relationships with key US stakeholders while advancing global AI safety efforts for the public good.
This international expansion comes after the United Kingdom’s historic AI Safety Summit in London in November 2023. The summit was the first of its kind, with key AI industry figures in attendance, including CEO Sam Altman, Microsoft President Brad Smith, Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis, and Elon Musk.
Safety Assessments
Furthermore, the institute summarized recent safety tests on five publicly- available advanced artificial intelligence models. These tests highlighted the capabilities and limitations of current AI technologies without definitively labeling them as “safe” or “unsafe.”
The findings revealed that several models could complete basic cybersecurity tasks, but some struggled with more complex challenges. In addition, some models demonstrated PhD-level knowledge in disciplines such as chemistry and biology.
Nevertheless, all tested models were highly vulnerable to simple “jailbreaks” and incapable of handling more complex, time-consuming tasks without human intervention. According to the institute’s chair, Ian Hogarth, these assessments are critical for evaluating AI model capabilities and ensuring that safety remains a top priority regardless of AI technologies’ evolution.
